James T. Guglielmo was admitted to practice February 14, 1963.  In his 50+ years of practice, he had vast experience in trial work in both State and Federal Courts.  He was admitted in all of the Federal and District Courts in the State of Louisiana, the United States Court of Appeal for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.  His emphasis shifted over many years depending upon the needs of his clients.  He engaged in defense of corporations, sole proprietorships, and insurance companies in the areas of professional liability, complex and serious automobile and trucking litigation, products, construction litigation, general maritime law, and toxic tort and environmental issues primarily relating to oil and gas operations.  He practiced almost exclusively in trial work of most civil matters that are presented to attorneys.  Over the years, he represented many of the major insurance companies, some of the Fortune 500 companies, and small businesses.  In the maritime area he represented many major oil companies, drilling contractors, as well as specialty companies.  In professional liability, he represented attorneys, engineers, architects, as well as others in the medical area.  In the construction areas, he had a very keep interest in both residential and commercial buildings.  This resulted in his representing property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers.  He participated in handling some very large construction projects and had experience before the American Arbitration Association. 

He had a special area of interest in toxic tort and environmental matters.  This resulted in his representation of oil companies, mineral leases, operators, drilling contractors, as well as others.  He handled several personal injury cases involving serious injury or death.  He also had extensive legal experience in business matters and had handled both sides of numerous commercial contractual disputes. 

At the Louisiana State University Law School, he was awarded the American Jurisprudence, apprised for excellence in sales and real estate transactions.  He also served on the Board of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and was a long-time member of the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel.  James loved the law and practiced full time until his death in January, 2018.
